Toothpick Tree

Toothpicks, glue, and bell jar
10.75" x 5.5" x 5.5"

While Houston was under "shelter in home" orders due to COVID-19, I began experimenting with toothpicks. My goal was to manipulate them in a way that emphasized their fragility while also creating a beautiful form. I realized I could "link" two toothpicks together by drilling a hole in one and inserting the point of the other into the hole. This discovery led me to create the tree form. I used this linking process with the points of toothpicks to create the tree's branches.
