Philosopher's Room

Mixed-media installation

This installation consisted of multiple versions of a ringed pole supporting a glass bottle horizontally. The largest pole and bottle hung from the ceiling above a white box on the floor below. The box was open on one side and had a one-way mirror on another. Most notably, the box contained a smaller replica of the pole and bottle. This miniature copy could be viewed in several ways. It could be viewed directly, by looking into the box, or indirectly, by looking through the transparent side of the one-way mirror. It was also visible as a reflection in the mirror inside the box. In all, the original pole and bottle reappeared in the artwork twice and were reduced each time: first, by scale; then, by dimension.
